CONTEMPORARY MINOANS | MΙΝΟAN CIVILIZATION INSPIRES GREEK DESIGNERS
ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM OF HERAKLION
On May 12, 2018, the Archaeological Museum of Heraklion, at the suggestion of the Branding Heritage organization, welcomed distinguished designers, archaeologists and journalists in an open cultural dialogue on “Contemporary Minoans – Minoan Civilization inspires Greek designers”. The purpose of the meeting was to highlight the timeless influence of the Minoan civilization on contemporary artistic creation. Greek designers, scientists, but also representatives of productive and educational institutions shared their personal experience of inspiration from Minoan art. The event held in the frame of the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018, presented a conference, an exhibition of contemporary works with clear references to museum exhibits of Minoan times, as well as the honorary distinction of the internationally renowned Greek designer Sophia Kokosalaki for her contribution to Branding Heritage organization and the Region of Crete. The event was held with the support of the Region of Crete and was under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and Sports, Ministry of Tourism and GNTO.
