BH DIGITAL MUSEUM
DIGITIZATION OF WORKS INSPIRED BY GREEK CULTURE
This project is in fact a digital cultural event, aiming to highlight both cultural heritage and contemporary artistic creation, with the aid of technology. More specifically, the project is concerned with the digitization of the organization’s collections (3d illustrations) and making them available in a digital environment, with the support of the Foundation for Research and Technology (FORTH) of Crete. The organization’s collection, continuously enriched with new creations, consists of contemporary works (such as clothes, jewellery, textiles, sandals, ceramics, mosaics, works of art, etc.) of both Greek and foreign artists, who derive inspiration from ancient Greek symbols, myths and excavation finds in our country. These creations transform Greek history into artistic creation and promote the invaluable legacies of our cultural heritage worldwide. The works will be digitized through three-dimensional scanning techniques for objects (such as clothes, jewellery, etc.) and two-dimensional scanning techniques for other works (such as paintings, etc.), and the exhibits will be presented online through a system that will allow the user to browse in a virtual 3D environment. Each work will be accompanied by a description of the creation, its technique, inspiration and history. The organization has chosen to collaborate with specialized partners as regards the technical part of the proposal and the design of high-quality digital material.
