SOURCE OF INSPIRATION
Potnia Thera is a mural discovered in the settlement of Akrotiri Thera and was a decorative piece on the north wall of room 3A on the first floor of the building “Xeste 3” which is believed to have been the public sanctuary of the settlement. Having rich attire and precious jewels, this figure has been described as a goddess of nature. Sitting on a throne, she accepts the offering of saffron from a saffron collector while next to her there is a griffin and a blue monkey in front of her.
