Branding Heritage Presents “The Weavers of Greece” at Geraki, Laconia
Geraki, Laconia – Branding Heritage (BH) founder and journalist Katerina Frentzou presented the project “The Weavers of Greece”—an initiative dedicated to safeguarding, documenting, and connecting traditional weaving with contemporary designers—during two important cultural events:
➡️ the 2nd Meeting of the Cultural Heritage Network, organized by the Directorate of Modern Cultural Heritage of the Ministry of Culture, and
➡️ the conference hosted by the Cultural Association Geronthron in Geraki, where one of the Ministry of Culture’s 19 official Handicraft Structures is based.
As part of the conference, Ellie Sfika, founder of Amalthea Athens, led a hands-on workshop entitled “Traditional Textiles and Contemporary Design,” exploring the dialogue between heritage crafts and modern creative practices.
To date, BH has documented over than 100 weavers from Crete, Peloponnese and Attica.
The project is implemented under the auspices and with the support of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture.
