SOURCE OF INSPIRATION
Potnia Theron is a fresco discovered at the settlement of Akrotiri,Thera and adorned the north wall of room 3A on the first floor of building “Xeste 3” which is believed to be the public ceremonial area of the settlement. Having rich attire and precious jewels, this figure has been described as a goddess of nature. Sitting on a throne, she accepts the Crocuses offer of crocus stamens from a crocus collector. The photo features details of the fresco and more specifically the design of the garment that was the inspiration for the creation of the woven fabric.
