Irene Kaberidou is an assistant Professor of Sociology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. She completed her BA and MA at Emmanuel College and Boston College, Boston and Chestnut Hill Massachusetts, USA respectively and her junior year at the Sorbonne (Paris IV), Paris, France. She completed her PhD with the highest honours in 2002 at the Sociology Department of Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences in Athens. Her research interests include female entrepreneurship, social integration, multiculturalism and immigration, which are extensively analysed in her 216 research papers published in academic journals, conference minutes, encyclopedias and academic books.
Ms Kaberidou is a founding member of the European Centre for Women and Tecnology (ECWT) and the editor of ECWTs e-news and e-newsletter, an honorary member of the Hellenic Professionals Informatics Society (HePIS), as well as a member of the Hellenic Sociological Society (HSS). In addition, having contributed as a member of the Gender Expert Action Group (GEAG) of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Information Society and Media in Brussels (2004-2008), she continues providing her support as an expert on gender and social equality issues in many of the European Commission’s high-level conferences, meetings, projects, workshops and EU Programmes.
